Glass Care & Cleaning

All of Tru Vue glass products are clean and ready to use out of the box. If you need to spot clean an area, spray a small amount of ammonia-free glass cleaner on a micro-fiber cloth or a clean lint-free cotton rag. To prevent over spray, do not spray the cleaner directly on the glass. Press the cloth against the glass and clean in a round, circular motions.

Why Do We Recommend Using An Ammonia-Free Glass Cleaner?

Cleaning glass products with harsh chemicals such as ammonia can possible be harmful to your valued pieces. Ammonia can cause out-gassing within the framing package.

Tip: Without the right protection, framed pieces will eventually be damaged by the harmful effects of UV light.

Protecting Matting

If you have a matted piece that is not yet framed, avoid touching it unless you are wearing gloves. Oil in the skin can leave spots that are difficult to remove. If a spot shows up, try to blot it with a dry cleaning pad.

Once a mat is behind glass or acrylic, it is still susceptible to other forms of damage. Ultra-violet light rays can accelerate the fading of many mats. Use conservation grade glass or acrylic to protect the art and mat as much as possible. Excessive moisture and temperature changes can cause water stains, mold and buckling. Inspect your framed art regularly to avoid irreparable damage.
